The Giant's Causeway had been on my mind for a couple of years as a place I wanted to capture, but after visiting it a few times I could never find a composition that truly encapsulated the fascinating rock formations. I wanted to isolate the rocks from all else; hanging in a sea of near white. By forgetting about the sky and surrounding land and getting up close to the rocks, I was able to distill the Giant's Causeway down to it's simplest form - black rock on white sea.
