badlands

Trekking the two miles into these badlands in the dark made me feel a little uneasy at times. The alien landscape often proved disorientating; and by torch light, the strange rocky outcrops didn't look at all as how I remembered them when scouting out in daylight.

The badlands are full of such detail and unusual formations that it was almost a little overwhelming at times and finding a composition that didn't feel too crowded was tricky.

The badlands proved to be in stark contrast to White Sands, which was to be my main destination on this trip - full of colour, texture and deep tones where White Sands had so little of this.
